I have a soft heart for animals! It really pierces my heart whenever I see an abandoned puppy or kitten. Can you imagine a week old kitten crying on the side of the road or a litter of puppies left inside a box? I think it really is such a sad situation. My love for pets is really ironic. When I was a kid I was bitten by a family friend’s gigantic dog. From then on, I started to have fears and I would literally hide from dogs. One day, it just got into me that these are just animals. The reason why it bit me was perhaps it was threatened by my presence. I decided to change my fear of seeing dogs. We adopted our very first pet, “Leklek”. Well actually, we just borrowed him for a few days from my aunt. It started of really awkward because of my fear of dogs. Everyday I tried to get close to him to eventually eliminate that fear. Everything happened so fast. What surprised me is how he responded to the care we were giving him. He was playful, gentle, and obedient. Eventually, this Japanese Spitz got attached to my heart. He eventually became spoiled and became too fat. When my aunt saw him she said that the dog is becoming really comfy and looks very happy. I beg that she should just give him to us. With a lot of trying she gave in. From then, I got another dog named Kathy and then another one, which is a Pomeranian named Spike and then a Labrador named Molly and the list goes on. But now, we are just breeding big dogs like labradors because poms are hard to maintain. I’ve realized that I miss having toy breed or small dogs. I’m saving up to buy a small one. Any suggestions on what breed to get? Tell me all about it on the “Taggy” link on my page. Thanks!

Labrador puppies
Anyway, I searched the net a while ago about the benefits of having a pet. I found a lot of interesting things that I wish to share to you. So here are the top 7 benefits of having a pet.
Pets can improve your mood.
How can you have a bad mood when a small little puppy is blinking it’s soft eyes and looking at you like it’s begging for some hugs?
7.) Pets control blood pressure.
Meds are pretty much expensive right now. I’ve always believed that prevention is better than cure. Groups of hypertensive New York stockbrokers who got dogs or cats were found to have lower blood pressure and heart rates than those who didn’t get pets. When they heard of the results, most of those in the non-pet group went out and got pets!
6.)Pets encourage you to get out and exercise
This is so true for Labradors because they love walks and they need a lot of exercise. The good news is you even burn more calories than other breeds because of their gigantic size you often tug and pull harder.
5.)Pets can help with social support
They are good companions for the physically challenged. They are also good for children with autism or patients in bed. Furthermore, having a pet with you while you walk makes you more approachable to people because they are great conversation starters.
4.)Pets provide unconditional love.
They don’t know your financial status, reputation, past experiences and the list goes on. They just love YOU! Sometimes they are even better than people because they’ll never leave you and they’ll always stay loyal.
3.)They train you to become good parents.
Having pets would really train you to become a parent because you take care of them as they grow. I remember waking every 2 hours in the middle of the night to help my Labradors breast feed from their mom. I wash them regularly. I also bring them to the vet. I buy them vitamins, things, food and all that. We are also sending them to obedience school soon. You want to be a good parent? Try puppies first!
2.) If you are bad person then it is good for your image
According to studies by Alan Beck Center for the Human-Animal Bond at Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine, studies show that people with animals are actually viewed by others as being nicer, better people. Of course, politicians have used that effect for years, and you'll always see when a politician gets in trouble they get a dog, sometimes a cat.
1.) It all boils down to making you a better person
They tend to make you ore responsible because you take care of them. They make you more calm gentle. Add all the benefits that I stated and you'll end up a better person.
